Thanks for the input! I will definitely be checking that out!
Thanks for the link. I checked it out and I heard somewhere that the 1989-91.5 4runners with the V6 are slightly different than the 1991.5-95 when it comes to ignition and wiring. Do you think the resistance numbers are the same?
Its been awhile since I have been on here but I really dont know where to turn next. So lately my 1991 4runner (has the V6) has been acting up, it wont start right away when its cold or hasn't been driven in a couple hours(it cranks ok). After it starts(after multiple attempts of running the...
Hey man let me know if this fixes it! I have this same issue but only in 2nd gear accelerating slowly or moderately. When at full throttle in 2nd gear I don't notice it but your description matches my symptom and I cant pin point it either. I have checked or changed everything easily accessible...
I agree with the fact that if you leave it in 4HI and make a turn on dry pavement your gonna strain/break something. I learned that the hard way and the side the axle snapped on has never been the same (keeps on having issues...). If you feel that your forgetful and might not think about turning...
^^^Yup! I just cooked one of the speakers in the back of mine as well. After looking at the panel and such it sucks. If I didnt care about the panel as much I would just use a cut-off wheel and cut out the square that goes over the speaker and just clear silicone it back on after replacing the...
I ran custom cat-back with a flowmaster super 44 before my current setup and I didnt like it.
I have heard borla turbo style universal 18'' is a good muffler and the sound I think is pretty good.
Headers are your best performance upgrade but they are really expensive. I personally would just un-bolt the exhaust flange after the cat to see how you like it. But really if you want anything permanent your gonna need to weld.
My set up went through stages and I am happy with where it is now...
I bought my second gen brand new because I loved the way it looked. I wanted a 1st gen but at that time didn't have the money. I bought this one and have been in love with it since. Cars have come and gone but this one has always had my back and goes places other SUVs wish they could go.

I installed Moog replacement rear springs on my runner about 9 months ago I believe. No more sag and it only cost me 100 dollars for the springs brand new!
Ok maybe I am more than slightly mistaken...poor choice of words, my bad...but the pressure is significantly less. kind of like a really bad oil leak it could be enough to do some damage
^^^that was awesome! I thought it was like you decided to go ahead and off road without any R&D with the new motor and such and "this is what happens". Awesome hella redneck but gotta get it done some how.
The inspection place took the cap off...your oil pressure would be significantly less if it was off. Seriously with the engine at idle take the oil cap off and watch the engine make a different noise and the idle bog. At least that is what happens when I took mine off to check the ring...
Nice thread. Very interesting. It sucked that you ended up having to buy a new motor after putting in the work on the old one.
As for your new issue take the CAT off the exhaust and look through it with light on the other side. If you cant see the light then its defiantly clogged.
Or you can...
