Does anyone know if 3rd gen transmissions have the VIN engraved on the trans case?

If you click on the link given in the article, you'll see many of the complaints are very specific- the rear control arm mount rusts away and fails. The problem is well known enough that there are multiple kits you can buy to fix it. This points to a manufacturing defect.

Blizzak's are the among the best, but pricey. I use Firestone Winterforce 2 (P245/75R-16) on my '99 Limited and like them a lot. I live in a part of Michigan that gets ~300 inches of snow a year and they have proven their worth.

Have them adjust the toe. Should get you close enough.

Swapping the heater unit and stereo is probably NOT possible. There's not a whole of extra wiring for the heater controls. I saw go with a DD touchscreen. That's what I have and it looks nice. Very easy to operate too.

Hey guys, I'm talking about the concealed button just to the left of the PRNDL, not the O/D button. You need to pop off the tiny plastic cover to access it. This is what got my transmission working properly again.
