Key Fob Gone Crazy- Alarm Activates When Unlocking Door

Anyone have this happen? After getting my car from the shop, the alarm started activating when I hit the unlock button on the key fob. NOTE- this happens intermittently.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I disconnected the battery for a few hours and it didn't fix the issue. Rig is a '99 Limited.

I had something similar to that happen to me on my 2000 SR5 after buying a set of ebay fobs and trying to program them. The programing sequence and one of the attempts caused the alarm to go in to that mode. There is a programming sequence to remove all codes (disabling the fob unfortunately) but this did at least remove the alarm activation problem.

Were they working on anything to do with door locks while it was in the shop?

Seems if any is wrong somewhere in the power door lock electrical system the programming will not work properly.

Check all your door locks and tailgate locks are working, if they turn on the door ajar warning light all is probably well.

Other than that it would appear something got messed up in the programming between your fob and the vehicle. You could try erasing all the codes and reprogramming the fob or erasing the codes and leaving it disabled if the alarm problem is too annoying.

Low battery could also be an issue, make sure your battery is putting out full voltage. Could also try a new battery in the fob.

Not that problem, but on my 2000, sometimes doors start randomly locking and unlocking out of sync when I hit fob. I have to go around and push the up ones down.
