I did the same swap on my 96 Hilux Surf, I couldn't find that bracket at the time either. So far, no problems with the original bracket, I haven't noticed any rubbing or binding on the cable.

New Koyo Wheel Bearing I'm about to change out the front wheel bearings on my '96 4WD, but one of the two new bearings I purchased (both Koyo brand) has white grease all over one side of it. The other one is clean. Should I be ordering another replacement, or will this one be ok?

I recommend searching for aftermarket vs OE Hilux Surf dials, simply because they only display kilometers per hour. One of the first changes I plan to make when I ship my Surf to the States when I move back is a set of 4Runner dial faces so I have the MPH numbers.
