4th Gen: Running board light not working!

You probably have a broken wire leading into the socket. I have the same symptoms and re soldered it but that didn't last. I finally replace the socket and it works fine.

    Cheap 04 for Sale

I bought my 03 limited 4runner last year with 160k miles and it runs like new. It's the V6 though. It needed brakes, cv boots and nothing else. 200k miles at that price is still a good deal. Make sure the timing belts been done and check the cv boots, shocks and maintenance records if...

    Ripped CV Boot Easiest Fix?

Just go ahead and replace the axial. All the work is getting it out to begin with. Don't waist time working on boots unless you are really desperate to save a few dollars. This job takes nothing special but a little elbow grease and time. Here's a write up that also works for the 4th...

    Longest trip with your 4R?

Atlanta, Ga. to Anchorage, Alaska. Took about 10 days. Almost 5000 miles. 03 4Runner SR5 with a buddy and two dogs in early October with a little rain, snow and ice. It was a blast!

CV boot change vs replacing w/aftermarket axle

I used a pri bar. There is a small grove on the axial. Put one end in the grove and give the other end a good tap with a hammer. Worked for me. Just hit it. Since you are replacing it, don't worry about hurting it.

CV boot change vs replacing w/aftermarket axle

I found it a lot easier to just replace the whole axial with the boots. The hard part is getting them out. Just pop the new unit in and go. No messy boots to clean and replace. Just get them from the local parts shop...NOT the dealer.

    Whining noise on my '03

Mine makes this noise also. It's the serpentine belt. If it's new and or put on to tight it can make that noise. Timing belts will also make that kind of noise when they are new or tight. Other sources are the alternator and the tensioner. There is a know problem with the tensioners making...

    Replacing the Rear Break Pads

Spray them real good with WD-40 and let them set over night. Then try again. If you have the tools you can use a blow torch and heat them up. They will turn easier after that.

    Should I buy it?2004 4Runner Sport V 4wd 10k?

BUY it! I bought an 03 4Runner for $11k with 140k miles last Dec. It runs like it's new. Just have it checked out like any car you buy. Good luck!

    135,000 too high to buy?

Nothing wrong with miles. It's all about condition. Both my 03 4runners have 80k and 149k and they are in almost perfect condition for the years on them...NOT for the miles. Your right...you take care of them and they will last for 200k and more.

Mileage drop from mid 17's to mid 15's

Disconnect the battery for about 5 mins and let it reset the computer. Then drive your normal route a few times and let the computer relearn the best optimization. Your mileage might get better. Mine did.
