front half axle replacement

Hello,
New to the forum and have been reading many posts and doing some searches. I have an "04" v-6 4wd. I do most of my own maintenance and repairs. I can't seem to find a write up for front axle/cvboot replacement on my "04". My rig has 130K on it and when I was replacing the front pads I notice the left front inboard cv boot is torn. any help or sugestions would be appreciated! Thanks

I thought I've seen the half-shaft replacement discussed here but never actually have seen a write-up. You seem mechanically inclined. I'm not sure I would tackle a job this big myself but I would disassemble and rebuild with OEM boots if I did. The other option is to swap with a replacement axle because of your mileage. Most of the previous discussion was about aftermarket vs. OEM. One brand was mentioned to avoid but I can't remember which it was. Search further for info on it.
