IMO the term AWD is for vehicles that do not have a selectable transfer case and thus no low range. Like Subarus or the Toyota Highlander. The 4runner has fulltime 4WD.

Yes 2WD V8 4Runners exist. However all 4WD V8 4runners are full time 4WD. There isn't a 2WD mode like the V6 has.
