Reading all of this, and knowing I have a LTD which doesn't have a key makes me wonder how easy it would be for someone to steal my 4R? If someone at the dealer would be involved, and all you need is to stand outside the door with a programmed FOB and then start it, makes me very worried.

It's definitely plastic. I just use a damp cloth. No chemicals/armor all should be used. And you especially don't want a shiny dash because the reflection on the windshield would limit visibility.
