Coastal rear bumper is off and sold locally. Holy hell was that thing heavy!
I went with the Ascend Fabrications rear DIY bumper kit... not the cheapest (though all the prices have gone up) but I was SUPER impressed...
if you haven't already figured it out you're fine. both of mine have play (and had it since OEM axles). as long as your seal is seated roughly where it needs to be everything is going to stay nice and dry.
I think the only out of touch with reality thing here is you (no offense of course).. you're standing to have to spend $5-10k to go long travel but looking to save a couple of hundred bucks on some LCA's that you think are more reasonably priced..?

Holy hell... I can't believe it's literally been over 2 years since I've last logged in and posted on this thing...
Figured it was time to check back in and give some updates if folks are ever reading back through..
Other than making it out to the outer banks 3 times in the last 2 years...
that's very likely due to the way the gears are cut. It could just be a partial tooth break. I could be wrong.. but I would legitimately be surprised if the sound wasn't directly from a hurt ring gear.
a quick sidenote with all these recent announcements/releases from Toyota/Lexus... Man.. I REALLY dig the 6th gen.. lol. Also the GX... AND also the Landcruiser lol.

Didn’t like how dim these new taillights are in the day light when the running lights are on so added a bit more of a visible “hey, this 7k lb pig is stopping” visual lol

if I had to put my money on it.. yea.. i'd say you busted a tooth or two on the ring gear. Unfortunately that's literally that sound I had in my supra when I blew the ring gear out of it..
I'm not a diff expert... but I would think/hope that if it is the ring gear it could just be a fairly...
