Yeah, that's what I thought. The good news is I got it fixed, I used that "Time Sert" deal. Was $85 for the kit but it made the job a piece of cake. Head's back on and all's well :-)

Changing head gasket on my 4 cyl and the head bolt (second from the rear drivers side) was a bear to get out and I could see it was messed up so I replaced it. On installation it tightened till I apple torque, then it spun. I'm hoping someone has as fix without significant disassembly...help...

Guys need some help here, I'm replacing a timing belt on a 3.0 3VZE. I lined up the TDC on the crank and the driver side cam sprocket is matched up but the passanger side is about 3 teeth off. Is it as simple as removing the belt and lining up the passsanger side cam sprocket the way it's...

My problem is the drivers side. I rip everything apart, cleaned everything with solvent so it was nice and dry, put it back together perfectly and it still leaked. The book didn't say to use sealent so I didn't, today I'm going to rip it off again and use RTV this time. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yeah I found that finding a GOOD 4 runner from the get go is about impossible. It also seems that for some reason people make them dog kennels, every one I looked at smells like dog and has dog hair all over the place! Anyway, as always awesome job!

OK, well followed book and did not use sealent...it's back together and leaking just as bad from the same spot on the cover so I guess you DO seal it, any other tips or suggestions? 1) mating surfaces clean and dry 2) cover bolts snug not too tight...leaked, then tightened down hard...leaked

Thanks guys, Plenum and passanger side cover is off...looks like that cover was at least part of the problem. Do you use any sealent with the valve cover gasket or is it stand alone? Thanks AK

Thanks Toyotech! I got some valve cover gaskets but didn't notice till I got ready to start the whole intake has to come off (used to v-8s) I'll swap out the cam seal too...anything else smart to mess with while I'm in there? AK

Puddy dad I can't believe you didn't paint the access door to match the rest of the rear plastic! I tried to use the factory 5 inch but seem slike they need something extra as they don't work with just -+ wires going to them...Guess 6x9 are in my future as well. Did the 4 inch speakers bolt...
