Changing head gasket on my 4 cyl and the head bolt (second from the rear drivers side) was a bear to get out and I could see it was messed up so I replaced it. On installation it tightened till I apple torque, then it spun.

I'm hoping someone has as fix without significant disassembly...help :vader:

Thanks in advance

Sorry, but I see no easy fix. If the bolt threads were messed up - then the threads in the head were messed up too. You might have avoided the problem by chasing the threads with a tap; but I doubt it. The threads were damaged when the bolt was installed before you tried to remove it. You may be able to remove the head and install a heli-coil. However, I'm not sure a heli-coil will withstand the torque required. Also, a heli-coil requires a special tool to install. I would check with a machine shop and see what they say.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The good news is I got it fixed, I used that "Time Sert" deal. Was $85 for the kit but it made the job a piece of cake. Head's back on and all's well :-)
