Convince me to get a Toyota...

Yeah, 22k is not unreasonable... but consider that although the MSRP was probably 38k, the selling price was probably much closer to 31k... I was offered 18k for my 02 with 25k a little over a month ago. Jeep resales are not great, but they're not as bad as everyone thinks- just don't pay MSRP...

Convince me to get a Toyota...

Thanks for the responses. bluewolf- I definitely got (and laughed with) your sarcasm in your first post, but you did subtly make some good points. Rationally, the Toyota makes more sense as it will hold its value better and it will be more reliable in the long run. Irrationally, I like the Jeep...

Convince me to get a Toyota...

Well, there seems to be a lot of confusion here. The 2005 Grand Cherokee is not the same as the 2004- they share very little- redesigned platform, two new engines, new transmissions, new 4WD systems, as different as the 3rd gen and the 4th gen 4Runners, for the most part. I can almost guarantee...

Hey GARunner- I sent you a PM regarding your truck... let me know! Thanks! :)

Convince me to get a Toyota...

I loved the Enron analogy! What a great response :D Well, I'll admit that I'm leaning towards the Jeep. I guess I could have been a little more specific in what I plan to do with the vehicle: - daily driver. I drive about 15-18k a year, it's either long highway trips or urban gridlock- My...

Convince me to get a Toyota...

Great comments Everyone posted some great, insightful comments. I have a few responses and a few questions. Keep in mind that I currently own a 2002 Jeep and that I am looking at the 2005 model. They are entirely different vehicles- I've seen the '05 and I can assure that in terms of sensory...

Convince me to get a Toyota...

Hey everyone- Some of you will recognize me from the old 4x4Wire days... still a great forum, but it seems as though the daily driver/non-beater 4Runners are stationed here now (and that other forum, where the average IQ is roughly the same as my waist size- and I'm pretty skinny!) Anyway, I...

    power outlets?

Hey Mark, how have you been? I see you traded up for a 4th gen. How are things holding up in OKC? I made the move from Dallas to Indiana- love the Midwest weather so much more. I also see you made the move over here from "The Wire." I still use the off-topic forums over there. I've been thinking...

    Salvaged 4Runner

It's a 4-cylinder. With a salvage title, even if fixed to be perfect, you'd be lucky to get $10,000 for it. Keep that in mind... 4-cylinder 4Runners aren't in big demand on the used car market.

    power outlets?

Great picture, Chuck- thanks a lot. Now why isn't that thing STANDARD?? I'm not a smoker, but I use both lighter outlets all the time! The salesguy and I were baffled that we couldn't find a second outlet- he said that even the Corollas have two. It's in a bad spot, too- my radar detector cord...

    power outlets?

Ah, ok. Anyone installed the ashtray? what's it look like? I have a cell phone charger and a radar detector- I guess I could hardwire the radar detector... it's just odd that they'd only put one in. :( I could always use the cell phone with the 115v AC outlet, but that's kinda silly... edit...

    power outlets?

Where does the second one go? I test drove an '04 last night and saw that there was an optional AC outlet in the center console box. I can't believe they'd design it with just one- especially since my '00 had THREE.

    power outlets?

Is there really just one cigarette lighter-style power outlet in the front of the 2004 4Runner? I know there's one in the cargo area.

I saw an SR5 Limited... i thought it was one or the other... how?

I've seen so many that say SR5 Limited that I'm starting to think you're right. Maybe the first year in Canada the Limiteds were called SR5 Limited? I'm not sure... When you open the tailgate, look for a little sticker tag that has the VIN on it. If it's missing or doesn't match with the real...

Accident - Got hit last week.

That's too bad... but at least it will be good as new. I was rearended in my '00 and I think my rental car was a Corolla. You got lucky with a BMW!
