Here is my XM install.
Most people would agree that generally XM has better hardware than Sirius. XM has a lot larger subscriber base than Sirius (>4 million vs ~1 million?). Most agree that XM's playlist is a lot larger (more variety). Sirius has dumped a ton of money to get sports, Stern...
Here is my Terk commander install. You can do without the USA SPEC Aux Input, but you have to hardwire the FM Modulator anyway...
For something easier...My wife has the Roady 2 for her Acura and all it took was to route the antenna wire and plug power into the cig lighter. The FM Modulator...
Did you use MDF only for your speaker adapters for the front? That is, mount the new speaker into 1/4" mdf, then into the door panel? or did you destroy your front speakers too? Did you use MDF for both for the tweeters and woofers?
Also, did you put the xover in the door somewhere...
The stock front door speakers are wired in parallel. I didn't understand exactly how you wired it, but it should be something like this:
Take pair of wires (the full signal from the head unit) going into the tweeter, wire that to the crossover. Wire the crossover "high out" into the tweeter...
Thanks, I knew about sensitivity readings, but at the same time I am convinced they are lies half of the time. I am thinking that I'll get them soon...
Anyone try these speakers out? Will the crossovers fit in the door somewhere?
I am sorely dissapointed in the highs of my 2005 JBL 6-disc sound and was definitely thinking of replacements.
I know 6.5 or 5.25 components would provide optimum sound/imaging/soundstage yada yada yada but.... Also, I had some Infinity components in my Tacoma but they required lotsa power...
Thanks,
So the rear seat audio still works on the JBL radio, except for the additional aux input (the USA SPEC input) right?
My only suggestion to you is to buy a simple fm modulator that plugs into a headhpone port (powered by batteries) and let the kids listen to 88.9 or whatever to hear the...
I trolled the XMFan site a lot and didn't find any threads specific to bad sound out of that unit, I remember the integrated Acura XM sounding about the same.
From what I can tell others are experiencing the same sound quality as I am with XM. I suspect that your alpine is able to 'fix' some...
In closing, I love choices that XM offers, but disappointed in the sound quality, the highs (treble) in particular. The iPod sounds *so* much better than the XM. I think that good FM reception may just sound better too :(
I used painter
Then I ran it right in the seam between the roof and side. This is super easy to tuck into. Then, once I got to the rear door, I ran it down the door weatherstripping. Once again, super easy to get to.
Lastly, along the door sill (pops right off) and under the carpet (coat hanger, be...
2) Wiring. Ran it down and along the shifter channel to the brain. Run the wire just before you re-install everything, so that you can get it through the holes (duh). It is kind of awkward to have everything all tangled up. Be careful no to pinch anything when reassembling. Here is the...
