Before you spend anymore money on coolant or throw parts at it, check for symptoms of a head gasket leak. The leak on these motors doesn't go into the oil, it seeps into the cylinder. Rough idle after a cold start? Running water sound in the dash? Check engine light? Hydrocarbons in the coolant...

How many miles on the chain when it broke?

If the light/code won't go away after resetting, something is off or broken.... And I don't think low oil will stretch the chain, but I'm not a mechanic, I just come from one.

I read that diagram as the part being mounted on the outside of the tranny case. And posting/replying to multiple threads under multiple user names isn't going to get you help any faster. If anything you are likely to be ignored.

Buy it... it's just seeping, the cover isn't under pressure so it shouldn't leak bad enough that it it drips on the ground. I, personally, resealed my timing cover myself because I can't stand a leak of any kind. Took me about 20 hours, replaced valve cover gaskets, intake gasket, water pump...

You can't really tell the condition of a timing belt just by looking at it. When I did the belt on my old VW, the old belt with 90k looked "newer" than the one fresh out of the box...
