My point was that when we buy Honda's and Toyota's we don't think about getting extended warranty because the perception is that the cars are rock solid. Apparently this is not the case for Toyota as their quality is slipping. Like you mentioned, you are seeing transmission issues at 70K miles...

Bad luck really? Until now at least for me Toyota meant quality and not to encounter 'Bad Luck' issues. The dealer assured me that there is a known issue in the engine and Toyota is just not accepting it for the 4Runner. I want to know WHY? I didn't pay any less money because it was a 4Runner?
