I'm doing timing belt myself. need advice

Also, once you get the timing belt and tensioner back on, put the crank pulley on and spin the motor over by hand before you put everything back together. If all the timing marks line up again after spinning it a few times, you know the timings good. If it's off, the marks won't line up after...

I'm doing timing belt myself. need advice

Your T4R uses WS trans fluid. Buy it from the dealer. If just a little leaked out, when you took the lines off, I wouldn't worry about it. The procedure to check your fluid level is ridiculous. In a nutshell, you have to jump 2 pins in the DLC, run the engine until it's within the right temp...

Front end pops with sharp turns 4th gen

Mine does the same exact thing but only when making really sharp left turns. It started after I installed the lift. Im guessing its something with the Lower control arms or sway bar. Possibly due to the caster being so far out. Ive double checked everything. Nothings loose or worn out. Im not...

    Very lightly smoked light tint

that would actually probably look pretty good, but I would rather not go through all the trouble of taking them apart and resealing them. Plus I like the idea of putting a film on them to protect them from doing the "yellow fade" which will drive me absolutely insane once it starts lol. Thanks...

    Very lightly smoked light tint

believe it or not, I cant find them making a taillight cover for the 4th gen. The lightest headlight covers might work but then im SOL for the taillights? somebodys gotta have pictures of a light colored tint on the forums somewhere

    Very lightly smoked light tint

I was trying to find some vinyl tint to cover my heads and tails, but everything I see seems really dark. I dont want them to look black. I just want them to look very lightly tinted and also have some protection from fading. Has anybody ever seen lightly tinted vinyl? As far as what shade im...

    4.5in lift and 265s ??

Its really just a matter of opinion. Ive seen quite a few pics of people running stock tires with a 3inch lift but probably no pics of people running aggressive stock sized tires on a lift since most people upgrade to something bigger. When I first lifted my truck it came out to about a 3 inch...

CEL P0333 after the oil change

If a rodent did chew through the wire, there is a replacement harness that goes between the knock sensors and the actual engine harness. Its usually about 5 inches long or so. This is most likely all you will need. Hopefully thats the only issue and you can get it replaced without too much...

CEL P0333 after the oil change

So basically, I talked to some of my friends at Toyota. It sounds like you can probably remove both knock sensors without removing a head, but it depends on the tech/shop thats doing it. The dealers will most likely always sell you the repair "by the book", which is removing a head. You cant get...

Oh bummer bro! Where are you taking your car?

    Pvc

If you want to be preventative, you could replace this every 60k or so. This valve DOES get clogged and will fail because of this. This will cause extra pressure to build up inside the engine which will cause some or ALL the seals to leak on the engine. Keep in mind, this usually gets clogged...

CEL P0333 after the oil change

It probably doesn't have anything to do with the oil change. Im not exactly sure where the knock sensors are on the 4runner v6 but they are usually located underneath the intake manifold in the "V" of the motor, one in each head.
