Last night going to get gas, it sounded normal again. Sounded like my v8 tuck, rather than a 4 cylinder struggling to go up hill. On the way home it became louder again. Power seems to still be there, gas mileage is fine, RPMs normal. Some thought maybe something to do with the exhaust? Or...

I have a 2006 4runner v8. Lately it has been running louder than normal. I feel like it needs to shift but the RPMs are usually somewhere around 2 so it seems to be shifting fine. It sounds like it is always struggling to make it up a hill, even when moving slowly. Any thoughts? 06 v8 87,000...
