Thanks...I did take off the plastic cover and the top nut was very loose...tightened them all up and it pulled the mirror back in. Putting the tweeter cover back on caused the plastic retaining clip to break...this part can be ordered for $1.50...should take care of the tweeter cover and how...

So it sounds like the reason these mirrors start to fail is the plastic part that breaks and pulls away from the door frame. The chances of the nut coming off the bolt are probably slim...am I correct or should I not assume this?

After not taking off the inside door panel would you do so if you had to do it again? I am having the same issue with mine. So it's 3 threaded bolts that hold the mirror on?
