Black rigs are a pain in the ass. Also I agree that 12,000 for a 200k rig is pushing it. Even if our t4rs are known to be reliable in general, 200 is a lotta miles! I got mine with about that milage for 1,200$. The po had just got a new taco and didnt need a soccer mom rig. Interesting that...

Just the opposite, my landlord has an audi a4 and its timing belt was shredded in 60k miles! Also the waterpump had a plastic impeller that was covered in a mystery goo... Looked like some kind of fungus almost. On the other hand, old audis were pretty tough. Jon

Hope you did the idler pulleys, that belt would go another 100 k but the bearings in the pulleys go bad first. Its not an Audi dude.... Jon

Mine had a leak from the water pump to oil cooler hose about there. But yeah, thats right over the thermostat. A bad head gasket leak would send bubbles into the radiator with the casp off and engine cold... Hey, what 1911 is that? Jon

Someone earlier mentioned the steering rack guide bushing. The one you want is the newer solid bushing. My 1996 with 240,000 miles had pretty bad play that mimics a bad drivers itre. Just yesterday I pulled the guide and shimmed it the 13 thou with washers used for installing an ar muzzle...

I had to look at those crappy pics a few times before I saw that the entire center of the frame forward of the crossmember was rotted through! I say stay away unless you need a motor... Jon
