With the exception of LT or SAS it is looks and approach angle. Tires aren't dependent on lift unless you want 35s that don't always eat fenders. They still will with stock fenders on LT fyi. This is why when you go to big tires you are doing some cutting of liners, pinchwelds and body mounts...
