Before we got our toy hauler I had full gear behind the front seats and my CRF450 on a rack on the hitch. It only squated it a tad and I was still safely able to drive at normal speeds. In otherwords, no problem.
Now, I am towing 5500 pounds, going much slower, and getting 6-9 MPG. Tradeoff...
Cool thanks for the info. I'm definitely not looking forward to those headwinds coming back from Glamis. That happens to be about 80 percent of the time!
The problem with airbags is I'm afraid if I got to that point, the tongue weight would be too much for the capacity of the 4runner. It is 700 pounds. The tongue on my trailer is 500 plus pounds (weighed with a scale before I bought it with the sellers quad in the front). So I am assuming when...
I recently bought an 03' 16ft Baja Toy Hauler and took it on it's first trip. Some specs:
Dry Weight: 4400 Lbs
Tongue: 500-750 estimated depending on load
55 gallons of water in tank
One 220 pound motorcycle
300 pounds of firewood (estimated)
Miscellaneous gear: ???
Load distribution with...
Thanks. It's too late on the reverse thing. I backed it into it's home but the bar was fine. The manual just says to have someone watch it to make sur it doesn't hit anything or compress to far. I will take it off next time. I will play with it on our first trip. We'll be stopping plenty of...
I installed everything yesterday and just had it set as it came from the factory. Is there a key to adjusting these properly? What tightens the bar, loosening the bottom bolt or tightening it? The instructions didn't really paint a clear picture. I drove it for awhile and had no problems, but...
Well, I got my rig all set up today. It tows pretty darn well. I filled it with 55 gallons of water but other than that it was empty. I was able to hold 55-60mph through the tough parts of our local mountains so power is not a problem. I didn't get any sway but I could definitely feel the...
Thanks for the tips on the cords guys. When I bought the McKesh mirrors they hounded... and I mean hounded me on getting the Hensley Arrow. They even sent me a big packet with a video after I said I wasn't interested. I'm assuming however, that I'll be fine without the Hensley hitch. The tongue...
I have a 16ft baja toy hauler. I wonder why Toyota put the connector way off to the side instead of right by the hitch?
Oh well, I'll look around at the local trailer place.
Hey, I just hooked up my new toy hauler today and I found the same problem with the electrical cable. DO you have to buy a 9ft cord like you did or can you buy a jumper/extension to add on to the existing cable?
How much was your 9 footer?
Thanks
