I have a 97 5speed and replaced everything with OEM water pump and Toyota coolant. Scangauge reads 183 and will only change one or two degrees. When I towed a trailer from Utah to WA the hottest it ever got was 210 for a short period of time and and it avg about 10 degrees warmer during towing.

Just some fair warning I installed some moog lower ball joints on my father in laws Tacoma and within a year the rubber was already failing. Pretty bad quality if you ask me. Maybe look into Toyota ball joints or Napa which people have had good luck with. Your truck looks great I've always loved...

Don't forget to rent a torque wrench if you don't have one. Torque it to specs and the castle nut lines up perfect. Also PB blast the night before should make the job easier.

Just bought a scangauge 2 love it so far around town. Going to Cali this week and I'm looking forward to see how it helps my mileage. I mounted right on the steering column with some 3M double sided tape.

I changed all the fluids and switched over to Redline. What a difference mt-90 makes in a standard transmission. Lubed the driveline and changed out the fuel filter, what a PITA. Also changed out the lower ball joints for some Toyota OEM. Trucks happy I'm happy!

This is from the manual. The recommendation for fluid is the same for 5speed and transfer case, which to me means it would be OK to use MT-90 in both.? (sorry for the huge pic)

Honestly I think I read it on the forum about MT-90 in the transfer case, but I've been doing so much reading on fluids that maybe I miss read something. I do know that in the manual for the 5speed and transfer case is recommends API GL-4 or GL-5. Based on the manual suggesting of the same type...
