I agree, and from reading the manual it seems that to be safe with Toyota we would have to change oil at least every 5000 miles, the 7500 miles interval might be difficult to justify as it only applies to "non severe" use, yea right.

Well the 2003 mannual talks about 7500 to 5000 miles oil change intervals. I don't know how this would be possible if dino oil is used. Cheers

I went through that recently, some advice, Before you do anything just check the oil level of the factory filled car, the design of the dipstick is very bad, makes it very difficult to get a good reading espesially if you are not sure where is the correct level. So having a good baseline...
