Well ... you are in PA where I assume they use salt. The hitch is in a prime spot to catch and hold salt. If you're really concerned about rot (rust), then do like the rest of us do - scuff it and spray it down with some Rust-o-leum.

Well ... your best bet is to head out with a friend and tow strap, and see how far you get. The V8 will provide plenty of torque which will be good in getting out. But with street tires, don't expect much, especially in anything muddy or slick. The only way to find out is get in there!
