1987 Toyota 4 Runner As my title states, I found this on CL. According to the owner, "I think it needs a rebuild". I'm ok with doing an engine swap but what else needs/should be replaced while in there? I hate to spend a little more than a grand on a truck that I can't test the trans/4x4...

Looks decent. Just check for rot in the wheel wells, paint looks fresh.

Ok,thanks. First gen 4rnrs are a little scarce in my area so I had thought about expanding my search to include an x-tra cab but, I'll keep hunting for a 4rnr

I know this isn't a 4rnr question but is there enough room in a first or 2nd gen x-tra cab pickup to fit 2 Australian Shepards? Dogs, not actual shepards....

Nice cars! I had a G60 (charcoal gray) and a VR6 (eggplant) corrados. Such neat cars with so many stupid little problems! If I found one cheap, I'd love to put a 2.0 16v possible turbo'd into one. I don't need another project car, maybe for my wife though.....

My wife drives an 05 Outback xt 5 spd with a COBB stage one upgrade (for now) and I have my 87 325is (stock engine has been modified a bit, cam, injectors, headers etc. soon to come, mega squirt ignition)

I agree with ^! She previously drove my lifted 83 Landcruiser and liked that so maybe she'd like it, maybe. I have a friend that lives 20 minutes or so from the truck who offered to check it out for me so maybe that will aleviate my wifes fears
