    How do my tires look?

Most people probably don't miss you with that attitude. I sure don't.

    How do my tires look?

What does drag racing or high performance have to do with this? :gun4: The tires are rated to 118mph. There is obviously an engineering marging built in also. But at 118 mph centrifugal forces are 720g's. I drive at 55mph max, that's 156g's. So the design is at 461% over my current usage...

    How do my tires look?

They are not worn at all actually. 8/32 remaining from 13/32 original in 45k miles. And they handle as well as always. Plenty of traction in wet and frozen. That's what makes it difficult to throw them away. :(

    How do my tires look?

I can assure you that arguing isn't the goal here. It is a request to do a visual assesment, that is not biased by any outside factors, such as brand, age, etc...

    How do my tires look?

They have a year stamp, I'm just not disclosing it to not bias anyone's visual assesment. If I told you they are 5 years old they'd look different to you if I said they are 20 years old. They are actually not that old, many official recommendations "suggest" to replace after 10 years...

    How do my tires look?

Just looking for opinions. Comparing to what others have on their trucks. But you said something that I didn't even think about! :tongue1: Braking! If the tread stays on while breaking, that is orders of magnitude more stress than the G forces of high speed driving.

    How do my tires look?

Statistically speaking, from what I've researched, the odds of being involved in a fatal accident where the true cause is blowout/tread separation are about the same as getting struck by lightning. And imagine how many craptacular vehicles are out there with underinflated tires that haven't even...

    How do my tires look?

They are pretty old tires. More than 6 years that some people recommend changing tires at. But they only have 40k miles, were always loaded not even 50% of their maximum load, always properly inflated, and not used in a dry or hot climate. :nerd:

    How do my tires look?

Even if it's just a hairline crack? They ride super smooth and quiet, with lots of tread left.

    How do my tires look?

I rotated my tires today and started noticing the cracking in the rubber. There is a distinct crack around the whole circumference of the tire, where the tread meets the sidewall. The place where it bends the most when it rolls I guess. :lmao: How bad do they look? Or not bad at all?

Proper Lower Ball Joint Inspection & Testing Procedure

Here is a scholarly citation: Toyota FSM 1996-2002, article SA-71, page 1241 The 0.5mm play figure is right on that page. Check it out at your local library. Never go online and download copyrighted stuff illegally, even though it would take less than 2 minutes to find the PDF on Google, which...

Proper Lower Ball Joint Inspection & Testing Procedure

This is totally offtopic, but it sounds like you've spent a lot of time in the analog world. The new electronic stuff is quite amazing though, and doesn't suffer from a lot of what analog was plagued with. Take the new digital calipers. The technology is totally self calibrating, and accurate...

Proper Lower Ball Joint Inspection & Testing Procedure

That would actually be frowned upon by the admins, I would imagine, as the Toyota service manual still has full copyright protection. :tape:

Proper Lower Ball Joint Inspection & Testing Procedure

You are one of those guys that think everyone needs $5,000 worth of Matco tools to do an oil change, and generally takes everything to the extreme just for the sake of the argument. If someone can mount their cheap Ebay gauge on a simple desk, and stick some feeler gauges under it to...

The number is correct, it's 0.5mm total play allowed.
