    Spark plug change at 150k

Those spark plugs are nickel, so they are cheaper. The Denso ones I purchased are iridium. They last a lot longer. Really its just preference on your end. Either will be fine.

    Spark plug change at 150k

For spark plugs I’d recommend either Denso or NGK. I’m about to do my plugs this weekend actually. Just picked up some Denso iridium 3421 (SK20HR11) on rockauto for $50, and that’s including shipping. As for the bolts that hold the coils in place, you can spray some PB blaster on them if...

    Transmission Fluid Flush or Drain/Fill?

Alright, im reviving this old thread instead of starting a new one since it has a ton of good info. Think im gonna pull the trigger and do a simple drain and fill on my 04 (w/dipstick). Admittedly I got scared of all the horror stories of trans flush/drain and fills on high mileage vehicles so I...

Lights on A/C + climate buttons not lit up?

Reviving this thread cause I had a durp moment and maybe this will help someone else. So ive owned this truck 8yrs now, and like the OP most my bulbs were burnt out. The arrows still lit up but none of the UP/DOWN A/C etc did. Its been like that since I bought it, so ive never thought much of...

    Rear diff breather location?

Very easy and clean swap if you remember to remove the nipple cover underneath the oil catch funnel that the filter sits in. Just put an old empty quart bottle, or whatever will fit, under the filters funnel where the drain hole is and you’re good to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How often do you change your oil/What octane do you run?

04 V6 at 127k miles. I’ve been doing my oil changes at 7k mile intervals. Mobil 1 FS and OEM filters. I live 2 minutes away from my local Toyota dealership so I just go there for my filters. Would like to get an oil analysis done sometime to see the results. Running 87 octane. I did try 91...

Toyota 4runner frame rust being looked at by feds

3 models from the same manufacturer, you’d think they’d be more inclined to look at their whole line-up as this is/could be a very serious issue for those affected by it. Glad I don’t have to worry about this, but I am hopeful they will bring some good news for those that have been!

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Ah, after re-reading your post I see what I did. That’s what I get for skimming over and trying to do a fast reply at work! Haha I have heard/read that the 2UZ is a pain, but I guess any oil filter can be considered a pain compared to the 1GR. Definitely a tight spot on that IS300 though...

    Not a bad alternator?

That is exactly what mine looked like when I opened it up. I think you found the culprit!

    Not a bad alternator?

I’d start with the pulleys too! My pulleys made the same sound! Replaced the bottom one since the dealership had recommended it when I had them replace the serpentine belt. Truck still had a squeal after I put the new pulley on, took the belt back off and noticed top one was going out too...

What did you do with your 4runner today?

All great things must come to an end! I’m in the same boat kinda, when I eventually get to buying a house I will need to pick another vehicle that is both fuel efficient and family friendly for DD to get to work, so my initial plan to get another 4th gen isn’t looking to promising haha Enjoy...

    VSC Off Mod

I’m pretty sure you can do it for all 4th gen models, but I believe the wires are different colors then the 4wd ones(?) Not entirely sure but if I remember correctly, that was one thing that stopped me from splicing into mine. Wasn’t sure exactly what wires they were and I’m not experienced with...

Limited time for the product itself or the discounted price? Would love to purchase one of these sometime but there’s just so much I want/need to do with my 4R still! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
