    Brake and control arm recommendations

Did some more reading on the 5th gen upgrade and decided to go with that. I ordered everything from Rockauto a little while ago. Thanks gimlithepirate for the tip on that. Now I just need to decide what to do about arms. I may go with the 1AAuto upper and lower set.

After doing a quick search about the 5th gen brake upgrade, I may go this route.

Also forgot to ask, what all is needed with a 5th gen brake upgrade? Do the TRD Pro SEMA 17x7's clear the calipers? Thanks again.

    Brake and control arm recommendations

Thanks for that feedback. Those 1AAuto LCA's look solid. How many miles how you put on them and how do the ball joints on them look so far? For the UCA's I mainly brought up the 5th gen arms because I figured it would be a cheap way to get something OEM and close to new. I am not opposed to...

    Brake and control arm recommendations

My ‘04 front end needs some refreshing along with new brakes all around. For brakes I am debating between OEM pads and rotors or Brembo UV coated rotors with Akebono pads for about $200 less. Any comments on either set up? For UCA, I’m debating finding some slighty used 5th gen arms or getting...

Blacking out FJ Wheels (Lots of Pics)

Thanks for the reply. That set up looks sweet! What size tires are you running. I’m thinking about going with a 255/75/17. I currently have Black FJ trail teams on it now that I would like to put on my 2nd gen Tacoma. So I’m looking at options to replace those on the 4runner.

Those of you that use these wheels on your 4th gens, how close to flush with the fender flares do they fit? Are you using any wheels spacers? Thanks

I can't say for sure. According to wheelers they are different part numbers. If I get chance I'll look into the extended and collapsed lengths.

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

My set up with the 300 and 599 spring combo gave me about an inch of rake. I would imagine the 505 springs would give you around 3/4" more rake which could assist in carrying weight. My front end ended up level left to right but my rear has always leaned to the left. I used an OME 10mm rear...

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Those tapered ends that your coil use are much better. They seat much easier. I'm definitely happy with my decision to go with Dobinsons.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Installed my new Dobinsons springs. 300's in the front and 599's in the rear. Bilstein 5100 shocks all around with the front set to the lowest clip. Tires are 265/75-16 Cooper AT3's. Fender to ground is 37" on both fronts, 38" on the left rear, 38.5" on the right rear. This is using an OME 10mm...
