Change CV's-Both bearings go out- help me solve the mystery?

This is correct. Make sure to torque them to the proper spec next time. Though I'm not surprised they failed with that mileage.

    Wheel bearing replaced still play?

It 100% has to do with play. The axle is the only thing that holds the hub tight against the outer race on the wheel bearing. They have such a high torque value for a reason. If the hub is not seated tightly to the bering race it will have a small amount of movement that can be felt by holding...

    Wheel bearing replaced still play?

Glad I could help you out, Did torquing it down correctly help solve your problem? Or is it already too late?

    Wheel bearing replaced still play?

I would think so. As stated above go with OEM or Koyo. Torque the axle nut to 174ft-lbs. and you should be good to go. The best way to do it is put it all together, don't impact the axle nut on, start it by hand. Have someone inside the truck hold the brakes for you and torque it using your...

    Wheel bearing replaced still play?

Wheel bearing are not something I would cheap out on. OEM are typically Koyo or NSK and those are the only brands I trust. It sounds like you took the spindle off and had the shop press the old bearing out and press the new one in for you and you reassembled everything right? My first question...

    2000 Manual Clutch Pedal Tight

It's possible that an aftermarket clutch kit was put in it at some point, which I have found that most aftermarket pressure plates tend to require a bit more effort than OEM. The only way to tell is to remove the transmission though.

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Just a heads up, you should not use brake cleaner to clean the MAF. It can destroy it I've seen it happen). They sell a specific cleaner just for MAF sensors at most auto parts stores.

    Kinda gunky valve/cam area

Yeah you wouldn't really want to "degrease" these components that are high friction and typically have a nice coating of oil on them. Not to mention a lot of it would drain back into the engine anyways. It looks fine and its typical for high mileage engines to look brown like that on the inside...

    3.4L V6 Engine Flaw

You can find low mileage JDM 5VZ-FE for pretty cheap, around $1000 I think. They generally have around 50-75k miles. You would want to replace the timing belt, water pump and spark plugs at minimum to be safe before putting it in. If your 4Runner is 4x4 I believe it's about a 20 hour job...

Front Brake Pads, Struts, and Tools (Help me double check!)

Any front "shocks" you find for your truck will in fact be struts. The difference is that a strut includes a spring perch. The 5100's are a great replacement strut. I would recommend having a spring compressor handy if you're planning on doing the front struts. You may want to have a decent...

Haha yeah it was quite the workout, I definitely underestimated the amount of work it was actually going to be, but it was totally worth it. She feels smooth as glass now! I saw your pics, she looks real clean. I'd say you scored on that one. :thumb:
