TRD Headers and Magnaflow Exhaust Installed

Had my TRD headers and cats installed. Picked it up yesterday afternoon. Here's a couple pics. Write up is in my build. My only advice to you is be prepared to have your cats modified if you have headers. Ended up modifying the elbow (not a goose neck) Direct fit is for stock exhaust only.

2000 Running Perrrfect

I am out in the desert often...Out racing around in my 4Runner.
Started loosing MPG
Then she started to idle extremely low and stall out at initial start up.
By the looks of my engine bay, (dirty..Mud and dust) I decided to do some cleaning..

MAF was filthy
Air Filter filthy
Throttle Body filthy
IAC filthy and full of buildup

Used my favorite..Brakleen to clean everything.
Put it back together started it up....Low and behold, check engine light came on for the first time ever and the idle was way too high.

Reset ECU - Unplugged battery for 15 minutes. Started her up and everything was PERFECT. No check engine light and the idle is right where it needs to be.

And some say girls can't wrench

I'm having similar symptoms with mine with low idle and random long starts. Will have to give this a shot.

When you clean the throttle body remove the IAC first, that way the crud doesn't wash into the sensor

I used a zip tie with Brakleen to clean the IAC. The zip tie comes in handy with scraping off the buildup and it opens up the little valve inside.

Also, when you pull the MAF, DO NOT TOUCH the actual sensor itself, just spray with cleaner, let dry and pop back in.

Hello - New to the forum but have been following for a while. Today I replaced the rear springs and shocks (seems like a common job) in my 2002 limited. Funny, before the driver side rear sagged lower than the passenger side.... After replacing, I fixed the "overall sag" but the driver side still sets lower? Any ideas or advice for this one? The car isn't rusty or structurally fatigued.

BTW, how many posts do I need to respond to before I can start a thread?

I think it's 15 posts. I think, definitely go read the new comers thread and you'll find those answers there. As to the lean, when I first lifted mine I wondered the same, you can see the picture I posted in my build thread from behind. But it's commonly referred to as the "Taco lean", because the Tacomas do it too. All the heavy things in these vehicles are on the driver side. The fuel tank, the battery, etc, so it causes a lean. There are ways to correct it. I think I read someone put 7.5 wraps on the passenger side and 8 wraps on the drivers side. Can't think of it exactly off the top of my head, but searching will find you that answer. Welcome to all of the knowledge you could ever need.

Didn't do much but I hate having the top break light out so I had to replace that. Now I feel better. Next step in the lighting department is to figure out what is wrong with the wiring... When you turn on the lights the rear blinker lights come on... Ugh.

Just a heads up, you should not use brake cleaner to clean the MAF. It can destroy it I've seen it happen). They sell a specific cleaner just for MAF sensors at most auto parts stores.

Squeal from the dash

Well, I dropped some choice words on my 3rd gen today (1999). She's been my ole faithful for 210K miles, but lately...:ybrick:. About a month ago, an annoying squeal started up from the aft, lower end of the passenger dashboard. I thought it might be the mode servo, but the noise continues regardless of air settings. The only thing that makes that blasted squeal go away is to engage the parking brake. So, now, I go down the road with the parking brake raised ever so slightly. Not enough to engage the parking brake, mind you (the brake light doesn't come on), but it's pretty close. Anyone else have this issue?

I brought mine back into civilization and hard top roads today after playing the past two days. A friend of mine wanted to go camping so we hit an area off road park. His wife and three boys had a blast too! Just stinks that we had to leave!

I did the timing belt, wp, tensioner, idler, radiator, hoses, belts, and damn I am tired! 157k miles on a 1998. The tb had been done in the past but it wasn't a Toyota belt.

Went for a spin up near Squamish, Garibaldi Park Rd, then poked about on the logging roads. Nothing too challenging, saw a bear, good fun.

In my years, I have never seen it happen but I wouldn't doubt it.
