I've heard that the current chassis will continue through 2023, and after that, the GX will basically be built off the RX platform, but basically have a longer wheelbase.
Has anyone heard anything similar? If it's true and it becomes a unibody SUV w/o the off road chops, I could see GX460's...
Thanks. Yeah, I’m aware that forced induction is the superior option at altitude…… but I’ve read such great things about a SC 4Runner — especially via Magnusson — that I was holding out for this option.
I think the updated 4Runner for 2023 with the 2.5 turbo will be the superior power...
Wow. So the guy I spoke with was just super confused ….. ??
He was very clear in what he told me, and I felt like I was clear in what asked.
Crazy

Thanks man.
Yeah the differences in ride are night and day between the GX and the Trd pro ….. in terms of comfort, cabin noise, and just overall refinement. The GX is a luxury truck for sure.
I paid $52k for my 2016 GX460 back in sept 2015. Now I’m looking at $62k without much in the way...
Yeah I’m just not happy they raised the price by approx $1k.
But if it’s around $8500 and I keep this ride for another 2 years, I agree it’s worth it

Yes I called. I wanted to get an update and then got the unexpected surprise that it was released this past week. And I noticed that too — it’s not on their website yet.

I’m so desperate for a power increase since I live at altitude, and don’t think I trust the reliability of a wrangler 392…… BUT, I’m also not crazy about spending this much on a 4Runner that will get a total refresh in 2023.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I didn’t see a thread among the first 50 or so….
I called Magnusson today and just found out the SC is finally out and of course back ordered for 2020 and 2021 models. It seems they increased the price to over $7k now. Between that and...
So….. I currently own a ‘20 TRD pro. Previously owned a ‘16 GX 460 for about 3 years and then took the plunge on my first 4Runner.
I’m thinking of going back to a GX for the following reasons:
1. I moved to approx 7k above sea level 6 months ago. I drive 3 hours down to Phoenix and...
I really thought I was all in on the bronco…… until I learned it would be 2023 before I got one. No thanks.
Second, Ford isn’t inspiring much confidence with their quality issues (roof) for the new bronco.
The GX was a greet ride — sometimes I wish I hadn’t sold it. but my plan is to...
That’s what I figured. I saw that they grouped in 2020 with 2010-2019 and that led me to believe they simply were too lazy to update this the way magnusson had.
I read on the forum where someone communicated with magnusson in July of 2020, at which time the company told him that it wouldn’t...
I haven’t. I need to look them up. I was under the impression that magnusson was the best (only?) way to go.
I’m definitely open to the idea if they make a reliable SC, but I seem to only read about magnusson stories

I don’t think keeping it in 4th is going to accomplish much.
Going from the valley in Phoenix to 7000 feet puts a lot of strain on this engine when trying to keep up and pass other vehicles when climbing at that altitude.
Regarding the turbos, the lag is really exaggerated...
