97 5VZ, pulling timing at low throttle and bogging, P0505

Cleaned the MAF, even swapped with a different one, no difference. Will have to look at the fuel trims again, but I don't recall anything alarming. No coolant loss either.

97 5VZ, pulling timing at low throttle and bogging, P0505

As the title says, I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner, 3.4L V6, 4AT, 4WD. The problem originated as a bog at low throttle openings, and occasional RPM "hunting" at low throttle steady state cruising. Idle is fine, within spec. Eventually it threw a check engine light, pulled a P0505, Idle Air Control...

    A340F Oil Strainer Gaskets?

Okay, mystery solved. Got to look at the new filter in person today, it comes with three cork/rubber gaskets already installed. I guess they're not available separately. Hope this might help someone in the future! Thanks for your input StreetCreeper.

    JZiggy's "Grown Up" 4Runner Build

Nice truck, love my 3.4, but wish it were a 5 speed. The 4 banger would be nicer on the gas bill too heh. I added that ball joint separator to my Amazon wishlist, looks like a handy piece!

How to lube the door latches inside the door

PB Blaster is a good penetrant for stuck fasteners, but not ideal for long term lubrication. You want to use something like white lithium grease, which will stay in place longer and not wash out/run all over the place.

    door switch lights.

On my 97, no lights on any doors except the drivers door, on the Auto word on the driver's window switch. The cargo area interior light doesn't always come on when "door" is selected, but that's because of a faulty hatch latch.
