I actually have an update on this. It lost it's prime and wasn't getting pressure again. I tore all the stuff to get to the pump off again and found out my brand-new oil pump cover was warped. This was one of the only parts I bought aftermarket since it was supposed to come with the hex screws...

Thanks brillo_76, I'll check the EGR. I didn't have any issues with it when I parked the truck a few months back though. IDK. I find it strange how it sounds and feels good those first few seconds at 2K, but then when I press the pedal to get back up to 2k it sounds and feels awful.

I've done the head gaskets on both the 3RZ and the 5VZ. If you have a mechanically inclined friend who can show you the ropes like I did it's 100% doable. A word of caution though. As Nissanh said, don't cheap out on the parts. When the 3RZ hit 301k and blew the head gasket I bought a $60 full...

Final entry. Turned out to be the water temp sensor.

Well I ended up having to waive the white flag. I just heard back from the mechanic. Fuel injectors are flooding the engine. I'm getting a good laugh out of it though thinking that the bad fuel pump should have evened out the open injector(s)

Well it looks like the hard start and high idle issues are back/remain. I guess the next step would be to grab a new IAC?

Mhhh you might be on to something there. I do recall the splines not looking too great on the wiper side and I was afraid to really crank it down with the old one breaking. Maybe I'll order just that piece from the stealership. Thanks guys!
