Probably a good move. Having the 'right' oil is highly overrated. Any oil with the starburst is good these days.

My local dealer quoted me $573 for the belt and pump.

I had a similar experience on my Subaru Forester XT and 3rd party hoses. They are made for multiple vehicles and I had to trim to fit. The bends were also slightly different. Not 100% but it worked. If it was a car I cared about and i had to do it again, I'd pay a little more for the OE hoses.

265/70s on my truck with no rubbing issues.

Its been a while since i called so my memory might be a bit fuzzy but I just called my dealership and the quoted me $328 for the timing belt and $245 for the water pump.

Synthetics are a waste of your money if you plan on doing 3-5k mile oil changes. Synthetics have little advantages for short change intervals. If you do decide on longer oil changes with synthetics, like others have said, go with a high quality oil filter like a Wix or Bosch.

If it were me and I had the Amsoil option, I would run Amsoil in all of the driveline components and whatever you prefer in the engine. There are some real, heavy duty, advantages to synthetics in gear oils. Amsoil, Redline, etc. make quality products. When speaking about modern 'synthetics'...
