SPEAKER MAGNETS would probably work pretty well. You know, pry one off of an old blown woofer or midrange. As magnetics "conduct" through ferrous (iron) metals... metal shavings should "stick" to the sides of the filter once thae magnet is applied. If you want a commercial "store bought"...

My Michelin Cross Terrains handle snow and ice quite well.

tkr... I know you don't want to hear this, but.... I'd hold off on the replacement if that windshield is the original. I've had to have several windhields replaced here in AK and the replacements all seemed to be more fragile than the original. Pits are annoying, but cracks are just plain...

Well... all I can say is make SURE the spare was not forgotten. It's a bit tough to get to and most people just shrug it off and say they checked and filled it. A malfunctioning light or sensor on the T4Rs seems to be very rare. Make sure that the pressure gauge that is being used is accurate.

As far as fluids go: Wherever I can use synthetic I do so--oil, and bearing grease especially. As far as I know we are stuck with the same ole same ole nothing special for brake and power steering. Realistically, its darn had to find liquids that perform well over a temperature range from 100F...

I would go ahead and get the add-ons for winterization: block, oil pan, and battery heaters. One day you will need them--all it takes is one trip to Fairbanks in the winter and you will wish you had them.

Yes, I bought my 4R in Fairbanks. You can still get a good deal in AK, but there is the additional cost of "winterization" i.e. block heater, oil pan heater, battery heater, etc. A lot of people go ahead and get the autostart, and heated seats too. Yet, the cold temperatures are really not...

You live in Arizona. Temperatures rarely get low enough to significantly drop the tire pressure there.

SUVs and WS dings As a general rule, SUVs catch more rocks on their windshield that cars because they sit up higher. So, if you've only owned cars before and now have an SUV, be prepared for windshield "dings". I will say that my 04 4runner seems to be more resistant to dings than my 93 was.
