I go with Michelin every time. I do mostly highway as well. 146,000 on my 2005 4runner and on my 3rd set of tires. Michelin has always performed well for me and never had an issue with any of them. Just replaced them when it is time. NTB seems to always have the best deal.

Mine is a 2005 SR5 and it came with 17" stock rims. I think it was an upgrade on some that year and I ran into the same thing, all the computers say 16, so just tell them what you really have.

He actually laughed. I was so happy that I think it made it worth all the work he did. It had been a problem for so long and I kept thinking it was the alignment. Then we went through hell getting the correct part. So after all was said and done, I was thrilled!!!

Apparently in 2005, Toyota changed the Rack & Pinion in the 4Runner and although I bought the Haynes manual that covers 2003 - 2007, it does not cover the difference for the 2005 model. AND, if this is incorrect, please let me know. Does anyone have these instructions or know where I can get...

That is good to hear!!! Thank you. I feel bad because my husband has gotten stuck working on so many cars lately because he is such a nice guy. I cannot believe Toyota wants $1,300 for the part. They are out of their minds! Looking at reconditioned parts now.

Looking for the part now. My husband is a heavy equipment mechanic so once we find a schematic, he should be able to install it. I hate even asking him because I know it is going to be a pain in the a**!!!! :crybaby:

Yes, 2wd. We just wanted to make sure that is what it is because for the 2005, you can't buy just the bushings, you have to buy the whole rack and pinion kit, set, whatever...lol...my technical talk...and it is not cheap. I don't trust a dealership to tell me what is really wrong.
