Anybody have any experience with removing the grey moulding on the lower half of the body or possible painting it?

Hey all, Long time lurker decided to join. Currently have a 99T4R with 325k deciding to add another to the family. I'm looking at a 2003 4.0 v6 with the 4 speed auto. My question is this, is the 4Runners 4 speed automatic the same as the tundra 4 speed automatic that is notorious for problems...
