If anyone references this thread down the road, I was able to fix it by pulling back the weather stripping next to the trim piece around the upper seat belt anchor. Then I was able to get the button part back into the correct position where it would function again.

My driver's side seat belt height adjuster is stuck in the tallest position. Pushing the button to lower it isn't actually freeing up the lock so I'm not able to move it. Anyone dealt with this before? Looks like maybe I'll have to remove the trim piece and see what's under there. It's a...

2000-2002 Tundras had the planetary issue. 03+ Tundras and 4Runners are solid.

Lyric - mine was doing the same thing. If I bump the center console it'll come back on sometimes. You need a new bulb.

Try a different dealer or have another person at that dealer try again. Unless your VIN isn't correct or your locks have been changed, they should be able to figure it out.

You might try tightening the valve cover bolts before replacing the gaskets. On small leaks that's sometimes all it takes. Also, look into the Tundra brake upgrades before going Brembo. And third, the most common CEL is an o2 sensor failure but check the codes to be sure. If so, replace with...

I'm all for the 5 speeds, but this seems like an obvious choice. The 3.4/auto will be much more powerful than the 2.7. And it seems like the auto's are reliable and many have more than 200k miles now. 2000 also gives you some interior updates that your 97 doesn't have.

I'm not referring to the 99+ center console swap. I'm just talking about trying to replace the rear cupholders in my factory center console. I think the 99 and ups have an upgraded rear cup holder that will work in my 98 console. Can anyone confirm?

My 4 year old has been hard on my 98's rear cupholders. I heard that the rear cupholder part from an 03+ Corolla will fit and it looks slightly better built. Has anyone done this and is the oak color from the Corolla a match? Also, is the 99+ 4Runner rear cup holder any different than the 96-98?
