Which hose on the radiator is transmission fluid inbound"

Hello all, I've seen a number of posts that state how to do this, but none that I've found so far clearly show which hose is transmission fluid IN to the radiator, and which one is OUT? On my '98, I found both lines. From underneath, looking at the "in" side of the radiator, there is one...

Using Toyota ATF Type T-IV with unknown current fluid

I don't know what my temps get to. I do I know I live in Southern AZ where it commonly hits 100F in the summer time. And my T4R will have close to 500lbs of armor on it soon. And I managed to pick the lightest thinnest ATF for my fluid. Doesn't seem to be a good mixture?

Using Toyota ATF Type T-IV with unknown current fluid

Good idea! What spec is that? Someone mentioned VI, which I guess is Viscosity Index? I looked up some specs: Royal Purple: VI of 170 Valvoline Maxlife: VI of 156 RedLine D4: VI of 188 RedLine High Temp: VI of 220! Pennzoil ATF: VI of 182* *The Pennzoil one was hard to figure out...

Using Toyota ATF Type T-IV with unknown current fluid

Thanks, I was thinking along the same theme. Except most people don't put 500lbs of steel on their vehicle and drive in crazy places in southern AZ when it's 100 degrees outside. Makes me think I should use higher quality thicker viscosity stuff?

Using Toyota ATF Type T-IV with unknown current fluid

I'm sorry, I'm a newbie. What's T4 and WS? It seems things are more complicated than they should be. The manual for my '98 says this (copy/paste): Automatic transmission fluid D−II or DEXRON III (DEXRON II) The specs for MaxLife says compatible with Dextron III among a ton of other...

Using Toyota ATF Type T-IV with unknown current fluid

I just put Valvoline Maxlife ATF in my '98 Hey all, here's my story. I picked up a '98 SR5 4WD automatic late last year with a broken transmission dipstick. After changing everything except the transmission fluid, it was still sluggish on the get up and go. I ended up dropping the pan after...

    Transmission Dipstick Replacement

I received the new dipstick today I received the new dipstick today. It looks exactly like the old one. Except it's about 6" longer. :( It looks like the old one broke off at the upper "hot high" mark and is still stuck in the tube. :( Despite the name of the item, it's just the dipstick...

    Transmission Dipstick Replacement

My local dealer said it's p/n 35103-35350, which is also what was listed earlier in this thread. It looks like it's the right one even though it has a description of "Gage Sub-Assembly Trans". So I ordered it ... will post the results here. Hopefully the bottom part of my old stick fell into...

    Transmission Dipstick Replacement

what's the final P/N? I'm in the same boat here. My '98 t4r came with a broken transmission dipstick. I know why now, thanks to this thread! So what's the final answer on the P/N to get? Or should I try to pull one from a junkyard?

questions about NAPA CV drive shaft

The NAPA axle is installed. Phew! Would be easier with another set of hands. I took it for a short test drive, and so far so good. I will check everything over again tomorrow and then go for a longer drive. The nut on the new axle is a castle nut, and is no where near 35mm like the original...

questions about NAPA CV drive shaft

After doing some more reading, it seems NAPA sells both reman Cardones that can be problematic, and new ones that appears are sometimes SurTrack. I also saw someone post about the different lengths of the inboard spline after the clip ring that fits in the diff. In this case the NAPA...

questions about NAPA CV drive shaft

There's no label or identifying markers on the box aside from NAPA MaxDrive. I apologize for the confusing pic. I wasn't trying to compare lengths of the two axles. The inner boot on the old axle is not clamped down. (When I removed the axle, that part came out leaving the metal tri still...
