Did the driver side rear axle oil seal, bearing, and complete brake rebuild.
Right rear will be tomorrow.
Huge thanks to “Timmy the Toolman” videos on YouTube and this forum as well for the easy “how to”
New backing plates were painted with POR15 as well as the new wheel cylinders. Full...
TBU would provide the advantage of having the upgrade even without the trailer attached, and is much simpler of a mod.
IMO trailer brakes would control the braking of the actual trailer much better and would make it less prone to jack knifing in slippery weather, however it would mean a whole...
Just about finished loading this trailer up for a 2200km move across a couple Provinces! 6x12 3500GVRW
This is how its currently riding. Doing my best to balance the load with enough tongue weight to keep er stable.
Im pretty damn happy I jumped on the 231mm TBU a few months ago!
I just installed this kit a few weeks ago, with the heavy duty z36 pads. Main reason was due to the cost shipped to Canada. This kit was by far the cheapest option up here.
Initial impressions are very good. The powder coating is a little thin in some places but still much better than the...
Got my new bumper back from powder coat. In case anyone is curious, this is what RAL 9006 looks like. A few shades off but good enough for now. Will keep em from rusting away until I can paint match.
There is lots of information on this forum as to the major flaw in the application of LBJ's on 3rd gen 4runners and Tacomas.
The spindle and LCA is designed to hold the ball joint upside down so that it is under constant TENSION instead of the normal COMPRESSION. The "ball" in the ball joint...
Engine idle speed is only ever the MAXIMUM "creep" speed a veh with a torque converter will ever go (provided they're not creeping on a downslope)...which can be calculated mathematically using 1st gear ratio and final drive ratio (and t/case reduction if so engaged).
Jack your truck up with...
Been doing lots of work on ol Trusty Rusty!
Gave her a nice detailed wash and wax. Always love how this paint still shines even with a crappy orbital polisher.
POR15ed the pinch weld area before re-installing the running boards.
Ordering up some Whiteline Poly bushings for the rear...
Trusty rusty got some new shiny bits installed.
Don't need to worry about trimming the dust shields... hah Passenger side had fallen off long ago.
Flushed and bled the brake system with a suction pump and replaced with DOT4. Flushed and bled the clutch as well. Boy that was some dirty...
Manual or Auto? If auto, tq converter and fluid condition with have a significant impact as well as the grade of slope you're on and any driveline resistance (i.e. oversized heavy tires/rims etc). I'm not super up on tq converters but I'm pretty sure they don't lock up in 1st gear only 3rd+
Accepted some shiny new parts from RockAuto!! I'm super excited! This kits has probably got to be the best price for all new (remanned) TBU parts.
Handling the rotor and caliber in person and these parts feel HUGE! Can't wait to get my brakes changed out.
I'm a little skeptical about the...
