Had my front stabilizer bar bushings replaced, still a thump in the rear. Any input?

Could be the rear stabilizer bars. At least I was told mine could be replaced and are likely contributing to the sound. Haven’t had a chance to get them replaced yet and I was told it’s not something that needs to be done so I’ve been kind of putting them off. Only making the comment in case...

    Spare tire carrier assembly

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the wire is fraying a bit too. Even worse, it’s a 2006 with 2006 levels of rust underneath. Nothing terrible and mechanic says it’s fine, but sure makes me nervous thinking about unbolting and bolting a new spare carrier up there. (Which is why your fix...

    Spare tire carrier assembly

I’ve found several old posts on this topic, all 10+ years old with broken links or sometimes different details/answers (apparently outdated), so apologies if this has been answered a few times. I’ve thought about this in the past and am thinking I really need to replace the spare tire carrier...

Help- leaks when it rains above driver’s left shoulder

Correct, no sun roof, which is why I was so surprised. Still haven’t identified the cause and haven’t had time to try to take off the roof rack (though I’m a little concerned I’ll just break something else/more)

Help- leaks when it rains above driver’s left shoulder

Thanks, I was wondering if it could be something under there. Off to YouTube for videos…

Help- leaks when it rains above driver’s left shoulder

Been trying to research this issue and thought I found the culprit when I noticed the weatherstripping on the roof was missing but after a little more research that doesnt appear to be the culprit (https://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/291764-roof-weatherstripping-2.html#post3781829) I...

    Roof weatherstripping

Thanks, you caught me before I could delete. Further research and perhaps it’s just a coincidence that this weather strip is also missing. I’m wondering if it’s a seal gone bad under the front driver side roof rack Mount (stock room rack, never modded, and just started, possibly die to age)

    Do I Want a New 4Runner?

TLDR: driving 2006 with 200k mi. Should I trade in for a new 4Runner (‘22 or wait for ‘23) or look at a different car. Just want a reliable and capable car (basically 4Runner), but don’t like the infotainment screens taking over every new car, as well as all the electronics. Currently...

    Interesting speculation 6th gen

Makes sense for the third row to be optional. I want one in my next buy, but not everyone needs it. Then you’re just lying for what you don’t need. Piggybacking on your “mostly mechanical” point, ditch the infotainment screen and go back to the knobs I can work in winter gloves. Reduce...

Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

Agreed. Would love it for the gas mileage but I bought a T4R for its longevity (among other things). Same reason I’m not excited about news of a turbo

DIY Exhaust Muffler Tail Pipe Replacement

Thanks! I’ll take a second look at them. I guess I was a little uneasy about continuing to use the original tail pipe just do to the rust all over the connection piece. I hate what the north east (and the heavily salted roads) does to the underside of these vehicles)

DIY Exhaust Muffler Tail Pipe Replacement

Thanks. I’ve watched a couple videos and I think I can handle pulling out and attaching/bolting in the new muffler. I’d like to avoid unnecessary work/costs and cutting/welding is way outside of my capabilities. So other than the muffler and new bolts, do I need any other parts? New rubber...

DIY Exhaust Muffler Tail Pipe Replacement

Thanks for the reply. I’m having trouble opening the link. Are you saying I need to replace the whole end tailpipe as well?

DIY Exhaust Muffler Tail Pipe Replacement

Here is where the connection went. It’s completely disconnected right at the muffler side of the connecting joint, but the pipe coming out of the rear of the muffler is completely rusted through, vertically along the bottom of the pipe [/IMG] And another view: [/IMG]

DIY Exhaust Muffler Tail Pipe Replacement

Finding this thread very useful. Thanks. Mine rusted out previously where the pipe connected to the muffler (rear side) and had it welded back on. The weld held strong but now the pipe itself is rusted through. Didn’t notice until I heard the rattle at certain RPMs again. Anyone experience...
