Did you pay more? 3rd row thread!

I bought an 04 sr5 v6 with 117k miles and a third row november of last year for $9994. Knew nothing about how rare the third row is, just knew 4runners were solid trucks. good detailed carfax, wasnt thrilled with the driftwood pearl color but its grown on me. As far as the third row, I'm not...

Pine Barrens, NJ: Wheeling and Meet Ups

I swapped in a 2007 fj cruiser suspension with only 1000 miles on it, with 1.5" spacer in the back and 1" budget boost up front. I'm 37 1/4" up front and 38 1/2" in the back now, I got alot more than expected. Rides great, alot firmer, more "truck like". 265/70 terra grapplers too, nothing too...

Pine Barrens, NJ: Wheeling and Meet Ups

How do you guys feel about getting another big group to go? I went on the January run and had a blast. I was stock then but the runner held up fine. I've got my lift and tires on now, and want to get it dirty. How about a tentative date of June 1st? Gives everyone a couple weeks to prepare...

    Yup, another "best tire" question......

I think for the price, you can't go wrong with the Terra Grappler from Nitto. I'm running 265/70r17 on mine and I've beat on them for the first month or so, driven like a lunatic trying to slide but I can't. I've been in rain, some snow/sleet/icy mix (gotta love NJ) and dirt/mud. No heavy snow...

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

you, upper control arms. Sometimes its hard to get your truck in alignment to spec after a larger lift, I don't want to have to deal with that. I also don't want to look ridiculous with a 265/70 tire lol

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Thanks Ark. I only plan on running 265/70/r17, is the lift going to be excessive, or nose high? I was reading in the compiled FJ swap sticky and now I'm hesitant. I know around 3" lift you get into the range of new UCAs and diff drop upgrades, and I'm not interested in doing that right now...

    4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Ark - you've been a great help and I've absorbed tons of knowledge throughout this thread- thank you. With that said, I dont think I've read of anything doing this potential setup. I own a 2004 4Runner V6 4x4 with 121,000 miles. The shocks are starting to go, so I wanted to get 5100s all the...

How are the early 4th Gen's holding up?

Unless you plan on doing a lot of towing, or plan on doing some serious off roading, I don't really see a huge advantage with the V8. I'm loving the V6. The V6 is lighter, and can get 18-19 MPG consistently with 50/50 city/highway driving. It also uses a timing chain instead of a belt, which is...

How are the early 4th Gen's holding up?

A co worker has an 04 with 248,000 miles on it, runs like a champ. Nothing serious ever happened, just routine maintenance. That enticed me buy an 04 with 115,000 miles on it 2 months ago for $9500. Just gotta find the right deal, and be willing to drive a little for it.

Pine Barrens, NJ: Wheeling and Meet Ups

Good run yesterday, sorry I had to leave early - some family issues to deal with. I gotta say, I'm thoroughly impressed with my stock 4Runner. I had no issues at all navigating through the trails. The one hole where I took the run around I probably should have went through, it wasn't as deep as...

Modest AT tire on a Modest budget

Thanks for all the replies. The Cooper AT3 is a nice tire, that is going for $163 each on discount tire. I think I'm between those, the Nittos, followed by the BFG now. If I wasn't such a planner and analyzer, I would have pulled the trigger by now...

Modest AT tire on a Modest budget

Hello all - I've lurked the forum for a couple months now, but haven't posted until now. I bought a gold 2004 4Runner SR5 4x4 w/ 3rd row seating back in October and I love it. I was a Ford guy, went through 2 Explorers - will never drive them again! The only mod I've done so far are weather...

Wheeling in Pine Barrens NJ Nov 17th, 2012

Looks like I'm a little late to the show... I hope this becomes a regular thing, I'm 30 minutes from Batso and I just bought a 04 Runner SR5 4x4. It's bone stock at the moment, but after a modest spacer lift and some beefier tires, I look forward to joining the group! Be sure to post pics asap
