Re-doing most of front end - anything I'm missing?

Monkey Wrench - are you saying the seal between the diff and CV axle is included in the axle assembly, or the one between the CV and knuckle? Any chance the seal between the knuckle and hub is included in either of those two?

Re-doing most of front end - anything I'm missing?

That's great stuff, guys - thanks. Plenty of options to choose from there. I'll make sure to use Loctite! Does anyone know if I'm missing anything between the steering knuckle and the CV axle? Specifically, I'm not sure if I need part number 90316-A0001 (Oil Seal) or if that already comes on...

Re-doing most of front end - anything I'm missing?

Awesome, thanks the kind of information I'm looking for. Out of curiosity, do you have a part number or link to the Napa part? I can't seem to track down the whole assembly you're talking about.

Re-doing most of front end - anything I'm missing?

Hey guys, so I just went in for an alignment a couple weeks ago and they told me my front left shock is leaking (XREAS), the front left UCA ball joint is worn, and the conical hole in the top of the steering knuckle (where the UCA BJ goes) has opened up. I've had a cheap spacer lift in for a few...

Need cargo cover for 2008 4Runner

I just had my back window bashed in and a bunch of gear I use for mountain rescue was stolen - to the tune of $2600. The jerks also must have used a crowbar or something, because they bent the metal on the hatch where the window slides up and down. So, looking for a grey one if anyone has one...

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

Another quick question: if I did go the 4x4Labs route, would cutting the frame screw me with my insurance company in the future? Does anyone have experience with this?

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

The more I look around and see this option, the more I think I like it. I'll keep it in mind as an add-on.

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

Thanks for the link - I'm following that thread now! I see the CB has an option to account for a BL, so I assume it must be something that can be compensated for.

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

That's good. Also, what are the bars around the side of the bumper for? Tie down points people to help when you're on three wheels and about to roll over?

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

I see you've got the receiver on the bumper. If I understand correctly, this bumper goes over the ladder frame the same way the stock plastic one does, right? So how does the departure angle and ground clearance compare?

    Current Rear Bumper Options???

Hey all, About a year and a half ago, I damaged my rear bumper and got it replaced with a stock plastic one. About a month afterwards, I realized I made a major mistake and should have used the insurance money for an off road one. Doh! Last night, I had someone hit and run me after they backed...

    4LO...on the highway?

Yeah, I know that there's absolutely no way I would be able to reproduce the problem for the shop, unfortunately. I guess I was just wondering if it's happened to anyone else here before.

    4LO...on the highway?

So, I was driving from Denver to Albuquerque this morning on I-25 and doing about 80mph and all of a sudden the 4LO light pops on in the dash. Oddly, it was just the 4LO light and not in conjunction with the 4WD light, as would normally occur. Other than the indicator, nothing seemed different -...

    Breather Install

Thai: In looking at that FJ forum, there are 6 breathers to consider: 1) the front diff, 2) the front actuator, 3) the rear diff, 4) the tranny, 5) the transfer case, and 6) the E-locker. I have an '08 4th gen V6, so I was able to locate two breathers in the engine bay up by the battery. I...

awful grinding noise shifting from 2hi to 4hi

I've had a lot of trouble myself lately with shifting from 2HI to 4HI. I usually drive around in 2HI in town, other than in snow, but shift into 4HI almost every day so that I can park on snowbanks at school (I'm easily entertained). I frequently have to wait greater than 5 seconds and have...
