POR15 is a pretty well regarded rust preventative paint, and I think there is a similar Eastwood product but I can't recall the name at the moment. Pricey stuff, but if you Google it, it seems pretty universally liked.

Yeah, that makes sense in my head, but I don't have a ton of experience wheeling so I am not sure why I might be missing out on otherwise by having them flat and not angled. It should be better for our needs regardless so I'm happy. And they look great too!

They are BEEFY, and I really like the look of them. I got mine with no angle and top plates so the kids could still use them as steps. Very functional in daily use, and I am thinking the flat angle probably won't detract a ton on the trail.

Yeah, the instructions do mention something about moving the hardlines, I originally just thought it was to get the u-bolt in place. But I see now that maybe they need permanently moved. They seemed to flex for me, but didn't stay bent, so I guess I'll need to get back in there. Hahahah...
