What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

3500 dry Funny this came up again since I did exactly what I didn't want to have do. I went out & bought a Tundra :lmao: This came about because we were leaving the Flaming Gorge in Utah last week (3rd trip with the 4Runner & TT combo) and there was a very steep 8-9% grade to get out of the...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Nice rig! Yeah, I wasn't able to find much info on the 4Runner pulling modern "ultra-lite" campers so it was a bit of a gamble that I'm glad paid off. I love seeing other 4Runners pulling, I've only seen 3 in person and they all had R-Pods hooked up (smaller & lighter). Maybe others will...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

First real trip in the books, 380+ miles from Denver into Wyoming & back. I chose to use I-25 for the first trip instead of I-70 just because if anything went wrong I didn't want to have to deal with mountain traffic & steep inclines. I was able to maintain 70-80mph, dropping down to 3rd on...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

4700 or 5000 depending on what site you go by. That’s why I’ve added airbags and heavy duty brakes in addition to the proportional brake controller. Should be enough to get me a few seasons, then maybe a pickup is in our future. Those EcoBoost’s look purdy. Good tips, thanks!

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

GVWR is 4999 lol Dry is only 3584 with 335 tongue weight, so really not bad if we don’t stuff it. I-70 sucks though, no joke. And we took the tent off, so that should help. We find out this weekend!

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Well, not technically "today", but recently? :noidea: Installed PowerStop brakes (pads & rotors) in preparation for the purchase of a Travel-Trailer Then I installed a set of Firestone airbag suspension helpers (BTW, they're amazing!) And finally we picked up our new toy! :usa2:

Final word on RTT on stock roof rails.

I'm using all factory parts that came on it. My tent is bolted to the factory black cross-members that go sideways. I did use shorter bolts from Ace Hardware as the SmittyBilt bolts would have put holes in my roof, but other than that, what came on the 4Runner when you bought it should be more...

Final word on RTT on stock roof rails.

I'll play too. It works, it's safe, and it's cheaper! I've had mine bolted to the factory cross-bars all last summer and into this year. You'll see a bit of a dip in MPG (you just put a bit box on top of your vehicle, duh), but not more than 2-3 hwy from my experience. And pics, because...

Nice view of the Milkyway above us: Camping last weekend, we found these fun ruins. Not terribly old, but still cool. BTW, I love this thread. I love seeing all the great shots, there's some really good photographers here.

    2019 4Runner Limited Night Shade

Let's have some fun today.... Thank you for illustrating the textbook lefty knee-jerk reaction. :suspicious: When you have nothing left, "RACIST!" No you're not. :eyebrows: That said, looks like the Murdered Out look is getting over-done by far too many. Nightshade...

    Gas Mileage Info

I love these threads. Coming from a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon (3.8L V6 mini-van motor) that was fully-built on 36" Swampers, re-geared to 5.13's, a full roof rack and tent on top, fully loaded for camping on a weekend, I got 9-11mpg and spent most of the drive in 2nd gear...
