    Urethane Shock bushings

I recently notice a "clunk" coming from the rear while driving. After checking it out, I notice the bushings at the top of the shocks are worn. I ask the guy at 4Wheel Warehouse, and they don't have a clue. I have Rancho 9000 shocks, and I think the bushing came with the shocks. Tried looking...

    1995 fails AZ emissions NOX

My 86 Beater recently failed SMOG with a high NOX. A mechanic friend said if my other readings (O2, CO2, etc) were low then it is the EGR Valve. So I checked around my regular parts stores, and got quotes. The highest was $240 and the lowest $130, and all out of stock. So I went online to...

In the market for a 2nd Gen - Need advice

I have a 93' 3.slow, with 3 head gasket replacements. The first time through the recall, the second, after it overheated from a leaking factory radiator, the third after the U-Pipe at the rear of the engine, leaked. The head gasket really only needs to be replaced if there is a leak. I would...

    Rear Wiper/ Defrost Broken

While we are on the subject of Rear Wiper in a 2nd gen. (Sorry to hi-jack this thread) Is it possible to disable the rear wiper without any adverse affects, like not being able to roll down the rear window, etc? I sometimes accidentally turn on the rear wiper and it's PITA to get back in the...

    Terrible Gas Mileage

Manual or Automatic trans? I'd check what 77'911 recomends. Also check your compression if you can. FWIW, I used to run 89 octane in my T4R, but with gas prices I switch to 87, though I don't notice any difference in mileage. I get about 270 miles on a full tank around town, but I don't go on...

    Terrible Gas Mileage

That does sound pretty bad. Are you carrying anthing heavy with you on the 100 Mile trip? What is your average speed on this trip?

    Radiator suggestions

The first time I had to replace my radiator, I took it an old guy who fixes mostly old radiators. He told I'd be back because the cracks he fixed are just the start. He told me that the Japanese made radiators, are made with a thinner guage brass than the American made ones. When they get...

    Radiator suggestions

An OEM radiator is not always the best bet, IMHO. The original failed because of metal fatigue, after 7 years. An after market, American made, three row is still going after 13 years and counting. If you can find an all aluminium radiator, like a Koyo. I'm all for that. Just not the cheap...

    Headlight upgrade

Have you tired just changing the bulb? I got a set of HB1 6000K 60/45W bulbs, that I have not installed yet, from ebay for something like $5 shipped. I still have a similar 4000K 55/45W I got from Performance Products a long time ago. Also check to see if your headlights are aligned properly.

    Radiator suggestions

I don't know if there is a difference between 22RE and 3Slow radiator, but I'd go with a three row radiator. I'm not a big fan of the new aluminum radiators with the plastic caps. I prefer a brass/copper, but that's just me.

    Power antenna fix with pic's

Here is a recent post. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classic-t4rs/155273-just-beginning.html#post1539543 Though if not installed correctly a fixed mast antenna does stand straight. If the motor is still good, I usually replace the mast which about $40 from the dealer. Though most of the time...

    speakers 90 4runner

Put a sub box if you want it lounder, but for good sound, get rid of the factory head unit, and install a decent head unit with at least 50 watts per channel. My front speaker are a pair of Pioneer 4" two-way, and they sound pretty good with my Sony CDX-GT510, but I plan on upgrading the head...

Dome lights/radio not working 95 runner

You have a short somewhere, blowing your fuses. If it rained recently, check for areas where water would collect and wires could make contact.

    CA smog, help needed

I tried looking for a bolt in CAT a while back, and they don't make them with flanges unless it's from the dealer. The first CAT I got was from Performance Products, around 1998, before they got bought out by Eklers a few years later. Most people have them welded in since it's pretty easy to...
