I dont think 3" of lift will fit 35" tires without a significant amount of rub. I'd do the 33's if 3 inch is your max. As for other parts it depends on what kind of terrain you plan on playing in

I agree with too high of idle, thats what caused my surge while hitting the brake. However it going out over night would be strange, I noticed when my brake booster went out last week my idle increased due to the massive vacuum leak, maybe check that out

you could drive it till second gear doesnt even work if you wanted. I'd say that would be your do right now indicator. it really depends how much longer you want to put up with it
