5K ten years ago? That's insane. I just did mine with the Aisin kit but had my dealer give me an estimate beforehand. $1,800 with new water pump and crank seal. And I thought THAT was high, LOL.

That definitely sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold. Mine sounds exactly like it.

Yes, I'm just unsure which is the "cleaner" way to do it. Uncrimping or just cutting. Did you use FIPG on the o-ring area? I've seen it done with or without. Thanks.
