Coolant pipe in 5VZ-FE block valley - nut broke

I was able to get it out! and I managed to not burn up my truck... Just used a bolt in place of the stud/nut. My backup plan was to just weld the bracket in place :) Shared album - Tone Southerland - Google Photos Shared album - Tone Southerland - Google Photos Shared album - Tone Southerland...

    Head gasket question

I did a HG on a 5vz somewhat recently. It's not a bad job, but takes a while. I think I spent $800 all said and done - that includes decking the heads and pressure test for cracks, but I also did a lot of while I was in there things (oil hoses and such that are easy access when heads are off...

Coolant pipe in 5VZ-FE block valley - nut broke

Im doing a top end refresh on a 5vz-fe in a 97 4runner, and when i pulled the coolant pipe that runs through the valley, i broke the nut holding the pipe at the back of the block valley. Is this something that I need to worry about fixing, or will the lower intake keep enough pressure on it to...

Manual hub & hub centric predicament

Is this still holding up? We're working on my kid's 3rd gen and at the same place, but have .75" hub centric spacers - there doesnt seem to be enough room to trim like you did. Looking at lug centric spacers, maybe. But i'd feel better about hub centric. Maybe we just need to get 1.25" hub...

    5VZ-FE Head Gasket Gone Wrong

I'm now planning to basically do all of this. I need to find out the cause, even if I have to pull the head again. I do have a bore scope, did get pictures and video. There are marks on the #1 cylinder, in the middle. doesnt look half moon like contact (which is unlikely anyway). There are a...

    5VZ-FE Head Gasket Gone Wrong

well that would make too much sense to tape off the cylinders, why would i do that? :) So yes they are non-interference engines, but I've also read if you get the timing way off you can still have interference. However, i highly doubt that's what happened here. I triple checked the timing -...

    5VZ-FE Head Gasket Gone Wrong

I've been working through a head gasket job on a 1999 4runner with the 5vz. Everything seemed to go great until I cranked it up and it ran for a few minutes. It ran fairly smooth on initial crank for about 2-3 minutes. Then I heard a bang coming from cylinder 1 area, then 5 seconds later, same...

    3.4 fuel rail installation question

I seem to have a slow fuel leak from the fuel rail itself. I'm going to try JB weld - the leak is very slow and seems to be coming from a welded circular "tab" on the front of the rail. I replaced the washers, and actually put a washer on inside and outside of the banjo bolt to create a nice...

fuel coming from the frame rail

Great pics, hopefully it will help someone else! When i removed my vapor canister about a week later, fuel dumped out of it. I replaced my canister, if you didnt, you might want to take yours off and empty fuel out, maybe set it in the sun to ensure any remaining gas evoporates.

fuel coming from the frame rail

This is exactly what happened. I got 2 of the lines mixed up and the return line was dumping fuel into the charcoal canister instead of back to the tank, because, well, sometimes I put things back together backwards lol. I also replaced the charcoal canister figuring all that gas would take a...

Need Your Help Please - CEL P0115

seems like it would be to replace with an OEM or equivalent, instead of a cheap rock auto ECT.... but it's been 6 years since you posted, so I guess you figured it out. I also have a P0115, going to try dropping in an OEM replacement - it's only about $40 shipped. I'm having rough idle at...

Need help with vacuum lines and 2 small lines coming off power steering pump

I have this same setup, with the 2 line connector to the PS high pressure line. It seems that mine interferes with the low pressure AC line and doesnt allow the PS pump/pulley to tighten all the way using the adusting nut. Is anyone else having this issue?
