    BEST available Alternator?

I’d stick with a Denso reman or new unit, same as OEM, super reliable, and you’ll get solid performance for overlanding. If you want more amps, check out JS Alternators; they’ve got high-output options (160-250A) that fit your 2000 4Runner and hold up well under heavy loads. I’ve run a JS 200A...

Going to Replace Front Struts + Ball Joints, have any "while you are at it" reccos?

Since you’re already in there, I’d grab new upper control arm bushings, those tend to wear out and can help with that steering slop. Also, check the sway bar links; they’re cheap and easy to swap while you’re at it. Springs? If they’re not sagging, I’d leave ‘em unless you want a lift. Oh, and...

High Beam Indicator - What Triggers it?

Sweet setup with the relays, love the redundancy. The high beam indicator might not work 'cause the relays draw less current than stock bulbs. Try a 10W resistor in parallel with the high beam solenoid to mimic the load. Fixed a similar issue on my Tacoma. Check the ground path too.

Time for new tires, again, help me decide

KO2s are solid, and if they’ve never let you down, I’d stick with ‘em in 265/70/17 C-range. KO3s might be grippier in wet/snow and quieter, but you sound set. Skip the E-range 275s, too heavy, might not fit. Falken Wildpeak A/T4W could be worth a peek, but KO2s are hard to beat.

    OEM CV Axle availability/source?

Sucks about those OEM CV axles, Lee! Back orders are real when supply chains get wonky. Try eBay for OEM remans or hit up local Toyota dealers. Aftermarket-wise, Cardone’s been solid for me.

Too much weed in Colorado? $57k for TEP

I had to do some digging when I was in the UK last year and wanted some CBD stuff. There are a few decent shops around London, and I also found that some health food stores carry CBD oils and gummies. Online is probably your best shot though, especially with CBD isolate if that's what you're...

Who is upgrading in 2025 and to what?

I just upgraded from a 2008 4Runner last month, great truck, but it was time. Ended up going with a 2023 TRD Off-Road Premium. It hits the sweet spot for overlanding without going full luxury, and still feels like a real 4Runner, which was important to me. Looked at the Landcruiser 250 too, but...

What are Your Mantras to Get You Through Anxiety, Panic, Stress or Despair?

For me, journaling and music help a lot, but I also started trying edibles during high-stress weeks last year, and they’ve been surprisingly helpful. It’s not something I rely on constantly, but when I can’t quiet my thoughts, it helps me slow things down and get out of that loop.

Has anyone tried secondary air pump uni filter mod on v8 T4R

I mounted mine in a spot near the engine bay where I could easily reach it for cleaning, kind of like placing it in a little pocket or bracket that’s easy to pull out when needed. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics handy, but a quick search might show you some setups. Just make sure it’s clear...

    AGM Battery Question

In my experience, the voltage dropping once the engine's warmed up is totally normal. AGM batteries don’t need constant high voltage once they’re topped off. 13.5V is usually fine for maintaining them after they’re fully charged. As for the booster, if you’ve got it set to “low” and it’s...

    Ordering OEM parts from Japan?

Amayama’s not bad at all. I’ve used Amayama a few times, and they’ve been solid, good communication and reliable.

    Incompetence or design flaw??

I'm leaning towards design flaw and incompetence. That plastic housing just can't handle the heat cycles and ham-fisted mechanics.

    Door lock SOMETIMES doesn't work?

I had a similar issue with my old car, where the driver door lock would sometimes refuse to unlock, but the rest of the doors worked fine. In my case, the actuator motor was weak and eventually failed completely. Before replacing it, I tried lubricating the mechanism, but it only helped...

    New shocks = lift?

Basically, your springs are what determine the ride height, but old shocks can sag over time. So, when you put in those fresh Bilstein 4600s, they're probably just letting your springs do their thing properly again. It should settle a bit after a while, but even if it doesn't, it's probably not...

For California residents - Much difference in registration between 2019 and new?

Yeah, California registration fees can be brutal, especially for newer vehicles. When I registered my truck, it was way higher than I expected, and they base a lot of it on the vehicle's value. The hit on my 2021 SUV was almost $600, which was tough to swallow. If you're looking for ways to cut...
